There are two types of workspace in the office area: allocated work settings for staff who work most of the time in the office and non-allocated work settings for staff who work flexibly, are out of the office a lot or prefer to be more mobile within the office. The allocation of these types will be agreed locally.
All staff will have access to the non-allocated work settings if they choose to use them and all allocated work settings are designed and should be used so that in the event that the allocated user is absent any other member of BT Global can touchdown at the desk.
As with the feature for the reception the use of a feature wall colour limited to one area will allow the company brand to be recognised. A neutral palette of finishes should be adopted in the work zones consisting of grey flecked carpet floor finish, maple veneer desktops and silver grey metal workstation frame and screen and an Aaron task chair as specified later. These finishes will then reflect the contrast with the feature colour from the wall or panels within the space.
Seating for multifunctional purposes e.g. touchdown or meeting will be identified by the use of brighter fabric colours. The timber slated partition features within the reception can also be used within the office floor to partially divide the space and can be useful for creating touchdowns and informal meeting space. This proprtions of the slat design will be applied to the manifestations on any glazing to multi-function rooms and the screens on the workstations.
Noise can have a negative affect on open plan offices and therefore it is important that this issue is addressed.Ideally, acoustically treated ceiling systems should be installed in areas of open plan, and additional accustic absorbency provided where noise is a problem.
Good housekeeping can make a significant difference to the look of the office. A clear desk policy should be encoraged. Adequate andrationalised storage should be provided and the desk screeningsystem should include shelving to allow items to be stored above the desk top
All storage will be contained within metal drawer cabinets with maple tops and should be located close to banks of workstations. An allocation of 2 lockable drawers per member should be provided.
